What's New In Pop Culture?

Olivia Rodrigo has decided that the stops on her “SOUR” tour will take place in smaller venues, instead of stadiums and arenas. This is an interesting choice, considering how massive her fanbase is, which is evidenced by her debut single, “drivers license”, breaking many records and getting over a billion streams on Spotify. This choice led to many of her fans not being able to purchase tickets for her upcoming tour. Olivia defends her decision in an article for the Los Angeles Times, in which she states that she doesn’t “think [she] should skip any steps,”.

Megan Thee Stallion is officially a college graduate! On December 10th, the Grammy-winning rapper, famous for songs such as “WAP” and “Captain Hook”, took the stage for a different occasion than usual- the earning of a bachelor’s degree in health administration from Texas Southern University. Even though she will almost certainly never read this, we wish Megan well in this new phase of her life.

Multi-billionaire Elon Musk has been named TIME’s 2021 Person of the Year. Musk, who is best known for being the CEO of companies such as Tesla and SpaceX, received the award that is given to “the person or persons who most affected the news and our lives, for good or ill, and embodied what was important about the year, for better or for worse,” according to the magazine. Whichever Musk was considered to be, we will never know.

Pop princess Taylor Swift celebrated her 32nd birthday on Monday, just two days after one of her most recent albums, “evermore”, turned 1 (although Swift did not acknowledge this occasion). Swift spent her birthday at a joint party with fellow Sagittarius Alana Haim, of the Grammy-nominated band HAIM. Several famous guests were in attendance, including Sadie Sink and Gracie Abrams. Swift captioned an Instagram picture of the festivities with “*don’t say it, don’t say it OKAY I’m saying it:* I’M FEELIN 32. And Alana is feeling 30. Don’t worry we tested everyone! Thank you so much for the birthday wishes, I love you all so much 🥰🥲🎂”.

The long awaited next installment in the Marvel Cinematic Universe has finally been released. Spider-Man: Now Way Home had its premiere on Monday, with tons of positive reviews flowing in that same day from critics who got to see it. The cast looked stunning at the red carpet, especially Zendaya, who turned heads with a gorgeous dress inspired by spiderwebs. The movie is expected to gross over 130 million dollars on its opening weekend.
