What's Going On With Kanye?

By now, most people on the internet know about the drama surrounding Kim Kardashian and Kanye West’s divorce, and Kanye’s subsequent concerning activity on social media. However, the whole mess is very … well, messy. In this article, I’ll be outlining all of the major events and information concerning everything that’s happened so far.

In February 2021, Kim Kardashian officially filed for divorce against Kanye West, after many recent marital struggles. However, the two remained very civil for many months after the divorce, while also peacefully co-parenting their four children.

It was around the time that Kim began dating comedian Pete Davidson that things took a turn for the worst. By November, Kanye had stopped styling Kim’s outfits, and was also reportedly making harsh comments about the clothes she chose without his help. However, he was making very public gestures to try and win Kim back. On November 29, Kanye wiped his entire Instagram, which concerned many fans, as Kanye’s close friend Virgil Abloh had died just the day before.

By January 2022, Kanye was dating actress Julia Fox, and this is when he claimed on social media that he had not been invited to his daughter’s fourth birthday party, and even posted videos of him driving around looking for the location of the party. He was later let in the party by Travis Scott and Kylie Jenner. On February 4th, Kanye shamed Kim publicly for allowing their daughter North to use TikTok. After this, Kim spoke publicly about the drama for the first time, stating on her Instagram story that “Kanye’s constant attacks … is actually more hurtful than any TikTok North might create.” In response to this, Kanye continued to attack not just Kim but the entire Kardashian-Jenner family on social media.

Kanye’s social media attacks escalated, and he began sharing screenshots of private text conversations with Pete and Kim. Surprisingly, Kanye did issue an apology for his behavior on February 15, although many believe it to have been written by a member of his publicity team, not him. It was around this time that Kim unfollowed him on Instagram. Bizarrely, amidst all this, Pete Davidson decided to join Instagram. However, he quickly left the platform after being blasted with hate comments by Kanye supporters.

On March 2, Kanye and Kim were both declared legally single. The day after, Kanye released a music video for his song “Eazy”, which features a claymation of Kanye killing Pete. Obviously, there was a lot of concern surrounding this “creative choice”. Kanye and Kim were also photographed together at their son’s soccer game, showing that peaceful co-parenting might still be possible. Kanye was absent from social media for a while after this, possibly seeking help for his mental health issues.

In August, Pete and Kim ended their relationship after 9 months. Kanye acknowledged the breakup on Instagram, and in September, once again shared posts criticizing Kim’s parenting. Oddly enough, the death of Queen Elizabeth II apparently reminded him how precious life was, leading to him pausing his social media attacks for a bit. Kanye ended up changing his profile picture to that of his former mother-in-law, Kris Jenner, for some reason.

Well … that’s all for now. This has been a very wild ride, which I’m sure is nothing compared to what the people involved are feeling. I'm hoping this resolves soon, and that everyone gets the help they need.
