Toby Talk - Fig Bars

Updated: Dec 11, 2022

I come forth to speak of the delightful delicacy that is the fig bar. Specifically, I shall compare the taste of the esteemed Fig Newtons with the lesser known, yet still worthy, Nature's Bakery Whole Wheat Fig Bars.

First, let us discuss the time of day that one may partake in these delicious treats. It is my belief that the Fig Newton is best enjoyed in the afternoon when one's hunger has begun to build but dinner is still some hours away. The Nature's Bakery Whole Wheat Fig Bar, on the other hand, is better suited for a morning snack, providing a wholesome and satisfying start to the day.

As for the taste itself, I must say that Fig Newtons are a true delight. The soft, cake-like exterior gives way to a sweet and succulent fig filling, creating a harmony of flavors that is truly sublime. The Nature's Bakery Whole Wheat Fig Bar, while not quite as indulgent, offers a more wholesome and satisfying taste. The whole wheat adds a hearty and nourishing quality, perfectly balanced by the sweet fig filling.

In terms of texture, Fig Newtons are certainly the winner. The soft, pillowy exterior provides a delightful contrast to the juicy filling, making for a truly indulgent experience. The Nature's Bakery Whole Wheat Fig Bar, while still satisfying, lacks the same level of contrast and can sometimes be a bit dry.

Overall, both fig bars are delicious in their own right and offer a delightful treat for any time of day. The Fig Newton is the perfect afternoon pick-me-up, while the Nature's Bakery Whole Wheat Fig Bar is a wholesome and satisfying morning snack. I highly recommend giving both a try, as they are both worthy of inclusion in any gentleman's snack repertoire.
