College Tips: Summer Programs
As the new year begins, we must decide what we want to do with our summer. You may go off to camp, vacation to another continent, or stay in the comforts of your home. However, for those who are aiming to build a big portion of their college resume during the summer, they may be interested in applying to notable summer programs. These applications may seem daunting at first glance, with multiple essay prompts, required test scores, and a list of past accomplishments, it seems like they are asking for a lot, but once you break it down, it’s not too bad. Many of the essay prompts you encounter, such as “why do you want to come here?” or “what are your long-term goals?”, will reoccur in most applications so you don’t have to write as many new essays. As many deadlines have passed and many more quickly approaching, you should meet with a college consultant or your school counselor to discuss what you might be interested in doing over the summer. Most deadlines are in mid-late January so you don’t have much time left, better start taking steps in securing your place in a 2022 summer program!
